This is Greg and Aurora, two D&D Characters I recently finished a campaign with. I played as Aurora, a seemingly moody fishstick who found her way into a mining job on top of a mountain then softened up upon meeting a child whom she swore to protect. Now… Aurora isn’t actually a fishstick, she’s a Crao- a home brew species of undersea humanoids!

Aurora had once fallen in love with the Captain of a ship (Greg) after leaving her home deep underwater. She was later betrayed by him (or so she thought) and the rest of her friends after an angry pirate who overtook her ship called her species monsters. Years later, she was returned to her home after a ship wreck which left her unconscious. To her complete surprise she woke up to see a now half human/half Crao Greg. He revealed to her that his so-called betrayal was actually a misunderstanding when in reality his intent was to help and protect her. Soon after she disappeared he had gone searching for her in the depths of her old home knowing it was his best chance of finding her. Although she did not return for a couple of years he waited. Eventually he was given an opportunity to eat a plant that would turn him half Crao, but this would mean he could never return to the surface. He decided that if it meant even the slightest bit higher of a chance to see Aurora again, he’d take it. So, he gave up everything to wait for her, however long it would take. At first Aurora wasn’t to trusting of Greg which he found reasonable, but they were soon put on an adventure together to help Auroras crew escape the sea. Throughout the adventure Aurora couldn’t help but remember the man she fell in love with as they rekindled their feelings. Realizing that their love was true, the campaign ended in them finally confessing to each other. Proving that their happy ending was with one another all along.
